Find Your Yacht in Capri
Introduction

Why charter a yacht in Capri.

A luxury yacht charter Capri rewards guests with a combination you cannot replicate from a hotel: total privacy, an itinerary that flexes around your party, and access to coves, restaurants and reefs that road-bound travellers simply never see. Blue Ocean Club curates Capri cruises across motor yachts, sailing yachts, catamarans and superyachts — every option live-priced against the global live availability feed and presented with our 100% best-price guarantee.

Capri sits at the heart of one of the world's great cruising grounds. Days unfold at the pace of the sea: long swims off the platform, lunch at a beach club where your concierge has held the best table, an afternoon cruise to a quieter anchorage, cocktails on the bow as the light softens. The captain rewrites tomorrow's plan based on tonight's weather and your party's mood.

We work with a small list of crewed yacht charter Capri operators we know personally — captains we have cruised with, chefs whose tasting menus we have eaten, stewardesses who know your children's names by the end of day one. The result is a charter that feels less like a booking and more like a private invitation.

What to Expect

Yacht Charter in Capri — What to Expect

The Capri charter season runs from late May through early October, with warm settled days, calm mornings and a reliable afternoon breeze. Sea temperatures climb into the mid-20s°C through high summer and the prevailing winds rarely exceed a comfortable Force 4.

Signature anchorages, swim-only coves and a handful of marquee harbours form the backbone of any Capri sailing itinerary — your captain rotates between them daily based on wind, swell and the rhythm of your party. A crewed catamaran in the 50–70 ft range remains the most versatile choice for Capri, with shallow draft for tucked-away bays and the deck space families and groups expect. Couples often prefer a sailing yacht of 50–60 ft; larger parties step up to a motor yacht or superyacht with full crew.

Typical luxury yacht charter Capri cost starts from around €25,000 per week for a comfortable crewed catamaran and scales to €150,000–€500,000+ for a 40 m superyacht — base rates are exclusive of APA (usually 25–35%), fuel, VAT and crew gratuity. Our charter managers run live availability against your dates and present the best three options, side by side, with a 100% best-price guarantee. Minimum charter duration is seven nights in peak season; short-week and split itineraries are available in shoulder months. Tell us your dates, party size and preferred yacht style and we will revert within the day — by email, WhatsApp or a 20-minute call with the broker who will run your charter.

Capri yacht charter — the 2026 Bay of Naples guide

Capri is the highest-density luxury day-stop in the Western Mediterranean. The island is too small and too marina-constrained to anchor a 7-night itinerary, but every credible Amalfi-Coast or Bay-of-Naples programme builds at least one full day and one anchored night around it. Treat Capri as a tactical asset inside a wider charter — Naples or Sorrento embark, Positano and Amalfi as the cultural spine, Procida and Ischia as the quieter western leg, and Capri as the one morning your guests will photograph above everything else.

This guide is written for charterers and family offices planning a 2026 booking. It assumes you understand why you are paying €120,000–€650,000 per week for the right hull and crew, and it focuses on the operational, regulatory, and social variables that decide whether Capri delivers or disappoints.

Why Capri sits at the top of the brief

Three reasons charterers keep asking for Capri specifically:

  1. The Faraglioni and the Blue Grotto. The three sea stacks off the south-east coast and the Grotta Azzurra on the north-west are the two most recognisable maritime images in Italy. Both are accessed exclusively from the water — the Grotta only by transferring into a local rowboat at the entrance, weather permitting.
  2. The Piazzetta and via Camerelle. Capri Town is a 90-second funicular ride from Marina Grande. The Piazzetta is the lunchtime stage for the southern-European jet set in July and August, and via Camerelle is the only retail strip in the Med where Hermès, Chanel and Dolce share a 200-metre pavement with cliff views.
  3. Da Paolino, Aurora, Il Riccio. Three institutional restaurants — lemon-grove dining at Da Paolino in Marina Grande, the village-centre table at Aurora, and the Capri Palace beach club at Il Riccio above the Grotta Azzurra. Reservations for August require broker effort by April.

The berthing reality — there isn't any

This is the single most misunderstood variable. Capri has no charter-yacht berthing on the island itself. Marina Grande is a commuter ferry port; Marina Piccola is a beach with seasonal pilot buoys. Yachts above 30 metres do not stay overnight inside either harbour. Three options, in order of broker preference:

  • Anchor in Marina Piccola bay (south coast) for the day. Protected from the maestrale (NW), exposed to libeccio (SW). Pickup point for the cliff walks and Il Riccio.
  • Anchor off the Faraglioni in calm easterlies — spectacular but exposed; only viable in settled summer high pressure.
  • Reposition to Sorrento, Nerano (Marina del Cantone) or Positano roadstead for the overnight, then re-cross at dawn for the Blue Grotto window before the day-boat fleet arrives at 09:30.

The captain's standing order, written into every charter we broker, is: Blue Grotto at 08:00 or skip it. By 10:00 the entrance has a 40-boat queue and the Coast Guard is turning charter tenders away.

Yacht selection for a Capri-centric leg

Yacht profileWhy it works for Capri
30–45 m motor yacht with shallow-draft tender (≤0.5 m)Tender clears the Grotta Azzurra entrance arch (1 m at the lowest tide). Hull anchors clear of the Faraglioni traffic.
50–60 m superyacht with high-speed limo tenderTender transfer to Marina Grande takes 4 minutes; guests arrive dry at the funicular. Hull anchors in the deeper Sorrento roadstead.
Avoid: <24 m without a dedicated tender, sailing yachts with deep keels (>2.8 m)Anchor options narrow to a handful of positions and you lose the Grotta access entirely.

A Riva 56 Rivale-class tender is the social weapon for via Camerelle drop-offs at Marina Piccola. Guests register this detail.

A two-night Capri block inside a 7-night itinerary

Day 3 (Capri arrival): Cross from Positano at 06:30. Grotta Azzurra 08:00–08:45. Anchor Marina Piccola 09:30. Lunch at Da Paolino in the lemon grove (booked December for August dates). Afternoon at the Faraglioni anchorage with the toy garage open. Overnight Sorrento roadstead or repositioning to Nerano.

Day 4 (Capri full day): 09:00 funicular to Capri Town, two hours in via Camerelle and the Piazzetta. Helicopter or boat transfer to Anacapri and the Monte Solaro chairlift if guests are walkers. Sunset cocktails at La Fontelina (the beach club below the Faraglioni — bring the tender), dinner at Aurora or Il Riccio. Anchor Sorrento overnight.

This pattern delivers Capri at full intensity without the libeccio-exposed night that has spoiled more than one charter. Captains who cut this corner end up at 03:00 looking for a lee shore.

Restaurant choreography — the part brokers get wrong

Three reservations decide the Capri leg. Make them in this order:

  • Da Paolino, the lemon-grove lunch, is a 60-day-out booking minimum for July–August. The corner tables under the largest canopy are not bookable online; they are held by the maître d' for repeat clients.
  • Aurora, the institutional Capri Town dinner table, is a phone-only booking. Mention the charter yacht name; they read Yacht Style and they know which captains they want to see.
  • Il Riccio, the Capri Palace beach club at the Grotta Azzurra side. Booked for either lunch or the "candy room" after dinner. The dessert room alone is worth the tender ride.

La Fontelina and Da Luigi (the two Faraglioni beach clubs) take bookings through the boat — your captain calls on VHF channel 74 in the morning and pays cash on arrival. Tip in euros; tip well; ask for the table closest to the swim platform.

Weather and timing windows

Capri is most reliable in June and September. July and August deliver heat and social density but also afternoon libeccio swells that close the Grotta Azzurra two days out of seven. The maestrale of late August is the single most-cited reason captains reposition guests to the northern Bay of Naples (Procida, Ischia) for 24 hours and re-attack Capri once the front passes.

Plan a charter that can absorb a one-day Capri delay without losing the booking — the day saved by the captain on Tuesday is always the day Aurora was held for Wednesday.

Financial framing — what Capri actually costs inside the charter

The yacht charter fee is published in the central agreement (MYBA form, EUR). Capri-specific spend lands in the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) at 30–35% of the charter fee. Realistic 2026 numbers for a 50 m motor yacht, party of 10, two-night Capri block:

  • Lemon-grove lunch for 10 at Da Paolino, wine, tip: €2,400–€3,600
  • Aurora dinner for 10, tasting menu, Campania wine pairings: €3,000–€4,500
  • La Fontelina day, four loungers, lunch and drinks: €1,400–€1,800
  • Il Riccio lunch for 10, no wine: €2,200–€3,000
  • Funicular passes, ground transfers, Anacapri chairlift: €600–€900
  • Local concierge / fixer (the person who actually gets you the corner table): €1,000–€2,000 for the leg

Plus 22% IVA on Italian charter cruising, harbour fees at Sorrento (€800–€1,500 per night for a 50 m motor yacht in season), and the tip pool at 10–15% of the charter fee, paid in cash to the captain at the end of the week.

What this destination is — and isn't

Capri is not a base. It is a 36-hour cinematic peak inside a Bay-of-Naples charter that runs Naples or Sorrento → Procida → Ischia → Positano → Capri → Amalfi → back to base. Treat it that way and it is the most reliable highlight reel in the Mediterranean. Treat it as a stop-and-overnight on a budget itinerary and you will be in Marina Piccola in a 25-knot southerly, watching your guests photograph someone else's yacht in better weather off Nerano.

We broker around 35 Bay-of-Naples charters a year. The ones that work share two patterns: a captain who has the Grotta Azzurra timing in his bones, and a broker who held Aurora in April. Both are the kind of thing that doesn't exist on a comparison website.

Booking window for 2026

For July–August 2026 the realistic booking window closed in late autumn 2025 for the top 30 hulls. Early 2026 still has shoulder availability (last week of June, first two weeks of September) on hulls in the 35–55 m motor-yacht bracket; the 60 m+ inventory is largely committed. October has weather risk but spectacular light, and the Da Paolino lemons are still on the trees.

Send the brief, the dates, the guest count and the cruising preference. We will tell you within 24 hours which three yachts are the right shape for a Capri-centric programme and which marina cluster (Naples, Sorrento, Salerno) you should embark from.

Local Insider Tips

Insider knowledge for your Capri charter.

  • Secure marina reservations well in advance, especially for Marina Grande, as summer capacity is extremely limited.
  • Utilise the yacht's tender extensively for exploring Capri's grottoes and accessing secluded coves.
  • Book restaurants and beach clubs on Capri at least three months ahead for peak season. Spontaneity is rare.
  • Engage a local guide for bespoke island tours to discover hidden gems and avoid tourist crowds.
  • Explore Capri's less-frequented hiking trails, such as the Via Krupp, for unparalleled panoramic views.
  • Learn a few basic Italian phrases; it is always appreciated, particularly in smaller establishments.
  • Do not miss a limoncello tasting on Capri, but opt for artisanal producers over mass-market brands.
  • Be aware of the ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato) restrictions for vehicles on Capri; rely on taxis or funicular.
Team Pick

A personal recommendation from Christoph.

Anchorage
Grotta Verde (Capri)
Capri, southwest coast
For sheer natural beauty and a moment of unparalleled serenity, I consistently recommend an early morning anchorage in the Grotta Verde. The water's luminescence is truly captivating, and arriving before the day-trippers allows for a private, magical swim. It is a quintessential Caprese experience that many overlook in favour of the Blue Grotto.

Questions

Capri yacht charter FAQs.

How much does a luxury yacht charter in Capri cost?+
Weekly rates in Capri typically range from €25,000 for a mid-size sailing yacht or catamaran up to €350,000+ for a 50m superyacht. Final cost depends on yacht size, age, season and the inclusion of expenses such as fuel, dockage and provisioning (APA). Blue Ocean Club presents a fully transparent quotation with our 100% best-price guarantee.
What is the best yacht type for Capri?+
Motor yachts cover longer distances quickly and suit guests who prioritise interior comfort. Catamarans offer stability, generous deck space and shallow draft access to coves. Classic sailing yachts deliver the most authentic experience. For families and groups of eight or more we frequently recommend a 25–40m motor yacht or large catamaran in Capri.
Do I need a sailing licence to charter a yacht in Capri?+
No. Every yacht we present is a crewed charter — captain, chef, deckhand and stewardess are included. You arrive, embark, and the crew handles navigation, meals, water toys and concierge logistics.
What is included in a crewed yacht charter?+
The base charter fee covers the yacht itself, the professional crew, their wages, insurance and the use of all standard water toys on board. Fuel, food, beverages, dockage, port taxes and concierge bookings are settled through an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) — typically 25–35% of the charter fee — with unused funds returned at the end of the cruise.
When is the best time of year to charter a yacht in Capri?+
The prime window in Capri runs late May through early October, when the sea is warm, the wind reliable and the coast at its most photogenic. Shoulder months offer excellent value and noticeably quieter anchorages.
Which are the best anchorages and bays in Capri?+
Skippers typically rotate between a handful of signature anchorages in Capri — sheltered swimming bays for lunch, a postcard cove for sunset and a lively port for dinner. Your captain tailors the daily plan to wind, swell and your party's pace, and our concierge holds back-up berths at the most in-demand marinas.
What are the entry requirements, visas and cruising permits for Capri?+
Most guests arrive on a tourist visa or under a visa-waiver agreement. The yacht's captain handles maritime clearance, crew lists and any cruising permits on your behalf. We send a pre-charter checklist covering passports, visa status, customs declarations and any local tourism tax so embarkation day is friction-free.
What does a typical 7-night Capri yacht charter itinerary look like?+
A classic seven-night charter in Capri blends marquee harbours, quiet swim stops and one or two long anchorage nights. We draft a sample route with your captain before boarding and refine it daily on board — guests typically cover 120–200 nautical miles across the week without ever feeling rushed.
Can you arrange a private chef and tailored menus on board in Capri?+
Yes. Every crewed yacht we recommend in Capri carries a professional chef. We share a detailed preference sheet ahead of your charter — covering dietary requirements, favourite wines, children's menus, dinner-party concepts and shore-side restaurant reservations — so the galley is provisioned to your taste before you step aboard.
How far in advance should I book a yacht in Capri?+
For peak weeks (mid-July to late-August in the Mediterranean, Christmas and Easter in the Caribbean) the best yachts are typically reserved 6–9 months ahead. Shoulder-season weeks can be confirmed comfortably 1–3 months out. Our real-time availability feed surfaces last-minute openings as they appear.
Are children welcome on board?+
Absolutely. Many of our crews are highly experienced with families — child-safe netting, paddleboards, sea-bobs, inflatable toys and tailored menus are routinely arranged. We can also organise a dedicated nanny or tutor on request.
What water toys and tenders are typically available in Capri?+
Standard inventories include a tender (often 6–9m), seabobs, e-foils, jet-skis, paddleboards, wakeboards, snorkelling gear and inflatable platforms. Larger yachts carry diving equipment, jet-surfs, submarines and full PADI-rated dive teams.
Can you arrange helicopter, jet or private transfers?+
Yes. We routinely arrange door-to-yacht transfers — private jet, helicopter, chauffeured car or marina pick-up — so your party steps from runway to passerelle without friction.
Is gratuity included in the Capri charter fee?+
Crew gratuity is customary and discretionary, typically 5–15% of the base charter fee, settled at the end of the cruise in cash or by transfer. We provide clear guidance ahead of disembarkation.
What happens if the weather turns during my Capri charter?+
Your captain monitors forecasts continuously and adjusts the itinerary to keep you on calm water and in beautiful anchorages. The cruising plan is always flexible — a charter is a route sketch, not a fixed schedule.
