Outremer 45 · Built 2023 · Abacos
A performance catamaran for four
FALMARI is a 48-foot Outremer 45 launched in 2023. With a 23-foot beam and a 4-foot (1.25 m) draft, she reaches anchorages in the shallow, clear water of the Abaco Islands, cruises at about 6.5 knots and can reach 20 knots under sail.
She sails from Marsh Harbour as a private charter for up to four guests, skippered by an experienced captain. Guests choose how much sailing they want to do: a relaxed holiday, hands-on coaching, or a week-long ASA certification course.
On FALMARI the layout is two queen cabins, a master suite with a queen bed and a queen cabin in the opposite hull, so a couple, a family of four or two couples have the whole boat and a captain to themselves. The master suite is generously sized.

01 · Three ways to sail
Holiday, coaching or certification
The Holiday: secluded anchorages, coral reef snorkelling and sunset beach bars, with the captain (and an optional chef) taking care of guests from start to finish.
Learn the Ropes: hands-on sail coaching. Guests join in planning the route, hoist the sails and learn to sail the boat to its best performance, without the pressure of certification testing.
Get Certified: a week-long live-aboard American Sailing Association (ASA) course, from beginner to advanced. Guests study the theory beforehand with the materials and textbooks provided, learn hands-on aboard, and finish with a written multiple-choice test. ASA certification fees are USD 600 per person for those who wish to be certified.

02 · The captain
Sailing with an ASA instructor
The lead captain is an American Sailing Association (ASA) certified instructor, named ASA Instructor of the Year in 2022. He holds the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and STCW basic safety training, has made five ocean crossings and has raced internationally. Teaching on board is hands-on, in a friendly and uplifting atmosphere, for sailors of every level.
Courses on board: ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing, ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising, ASA 104 Bareboat Cruising, ASA 106 Advanced Coastal Cruising and ASA 114 Cruising Catamaran.

03 · Why the Abacos
Shallow water made for a catamaran
The Abaco Islands are a chain of cays along the north-east of the Bahamas, sheltered by the Sea of Abaco. A 4-foot (1.25 m) draft lets FALMARI anchor close in at the cays, near coral reefs and beaches, and short daily hops leave plenty of time for snorkelling and swimming.
She sails here from November to May. Relocation elsewhere in the Bahamas is possible on request, for an additional fee.

04 · Life on board
Meals and the galley
All breakfasts, all lunches and two dinners are included, and cooking is shared between guests and crew. Other meals are taken ashore at the guests' expense.
A private chef can be added for USD 2,550 per week (USD 2,950 over Christmas and New Year). Sample menus include shakshuka or lemon mascarpone blueberry pancakes at breakfast, bang bang shrimp tacos or ahi tuna poke stacks at lunch, and jerk-spiced mahi mahi or homemade lobster bisque at dinner; a chef's dishes may vary.

05 · What the rate covers
Included and extra
Included in the rate: captain, fuel, water, power, dockage, insurance, bedding and towels, all breakfasts, all lunches and two dinners.
Not included: gratuity (a guide of 10–15% for captain-only charters and 15–20% with a chef), the 14% Bahamian charter tax, meals and drinks ashore, alcohol on board, the optional chef, airport transfers and travel insurance.

06 · Guest reviews
What guests say
“We had the most incredible week sailing on this catamaran! From start to finish, the experience was smooth, educational, fun, and so welcoming.”
“This was absolutely one of the best family adventures we’ve ever had. … We took our family, son 17 and daughter 14, to get sailing licenses with them in the Bahamas and it was bucket list dream come true for all of us.”
Reviews as published in the yacht's charter brochure.
