Who SERENDIPITY suits

SERENDIPITY is well suited to an intimate party of 6 guests who value attentive service alongside comfortable cruising. Measuring 26.2 m, she provides 3 cabins and is run by a dedicated crew of 4. Life on board centres around relaxed outdoor living, with daylight hours spent taking out the kayak and paddleboard, trying the light fishing gear, or unwinding in the jacuzzi on deck while taking in the surroundings.

When measured against similar motor yachts based in California, she holds a remarkably balanced position across the board. Her overall length is similar to comparable choices in the area, and she accommodates the same guest count. While her weekly rate is also similar to alternative vessels, she is newer than comparable yachts, providing modern reliability and reassurance for voyages along the coastline.

Deciding on the best time to charter SERENDIPITY depends upon the cruising grounds you plan to experience. During winter 2026, she is positioned to cruise the West Coast United States and California, whereas summer 2027 represents the best season to journey north into British Columbia, South Central Alaska, and Far North Alaska, or across Canada to discover Quebec and Newfoundland.

Cruising California: when to go and where to anchor

Best time

The primary charter season runs from May to October. Summer months bring reliable north-westerly breezes and warmer temperatures, though coastal fog is common in the mornings during May and June. September and October often provide clear skies and calmer seas. Winter cruising is possible but subject to Pacific storms and larger swells. Southern California marinas are busy year-round, while the Channel Islands remain relatively quiet.

Practical tips

  • Main airports are Los Angeles (LAX), San Diego (SAN) and San Francisco (SFO). Marina del Rey is 15 minutes from LAX; San Diego marinas are 10-15 minutes from SAN.
  • Coastal fog, known locally as the marine layer, frequently reduces visibility in the mornings during early summer, requiring reliance on radar and GPS for navigation.
  • Watch for thick kelp beds around the Channel Islands; they can foul propellers and block engine cooling intakes, requiring careful visual navigation.

Anchorages to know

  • Avalon Harbour, Catalina Island
A busy, sheltered harbour with mooring buoys, providing direct access to the town of Avalon and its shoreside facilities.
  • Smuggler's Cove, Santa Cruz Island
Located on the eastern end of the island, this anchorage offers protection from prevailing north-westerly winds and access to coastal hiking trails.
  • Cuyler Harbor, San Miguel Island
A sweeping bay on the northern coast of San Miguel, requiring careful navigation around kelp beds, featuring a sandy beach and seal colonies.
  • Mission Bay, San Diego
A large, protected recreational bay in San Diego with designated anchorages and marinas, offering calm waters and direct access to the city.
