2B at a glance

37South published Pacific range
The yacht that changed her name, not her brief
Expedition volume. Shallow-draft freedom.
2B is the same 39.2-metre aluminium catamaran the world first knew as THE BEAST. The yacht is listed with 37South and is now presented as 2B, with THE BEAST retained as the launch identity so readers can still find the award-year record.
Profab Engineering delivered her in 2019 to a LOMOcean naval-architecture and exterior brief, with interiors by Oceania Interiors. The point of the platform is not ornament. It is to stay under 40 metres and 500 GT, carry a 13-metre sport fisher on deck, and still give 12 guests the living volume more often associated with a 50-metre monohull.
A 12-metre beam and a 2.5-metre draft, as published by 37South, let her sit in remote South Pacific anchorages that a deeper displacement yacht of similar volume cannot use. That is the charter, not an accessory list.

01 · The carried yacht
A 13-metre sport fisher that travels with her.
37South describes the signature tender as a custom 13-metre luxury sport fisher, launched by 10-tonne cranes and carried on deck wherever 2B goes. The same listing records twin beds, a full ensuite, galley, bar and sheltered seating — a day boat that can fish, dive or simply take a smaller party away from the mothership.
BOAT International's 2020 World Superyacht Awards report is more specific about the original engineering problem: keep the mothership below 500 GT and 40 metres while still lifting a 13-metre, 19-tonne sport-fishing vessel on a two-point knuckle-crane system. That constraint still explains the silhouette.

02 · Ashore without a quay
A 9.3-metre amphibious tender for beaches, not just docks.
The second support boat on the current 37South specification is a 9.3-metre custom amphibious tender, plus a 4.5-metre Zodiac. The amphibious hull is the difference between a scenic swim-platform afternoon and actually putting guests on a beach that has no marina.
Crew support for diving, fishing and custom itineraries is part of the published charter offer. Exact toy inventory and operating limits are reconfirmed for the dates, because remote New Zealand and South Pacific programmes change with weather and permits.

03 · The flybridge kitchen
Teppanyaki on the flybridge, not a hidden barbecue.
37South lists a teppanyaki-style barbecue on the flybridge as a defining guest space, together with three outdoor dining options across the decks. The kitchen is part of the social architecture: meals happen in the wind and the view, not only behind glass.
Starlink coverage is stated on the same official page. On a 5,000-nautical-mile Pacific programme that is not a luxury footnote; it is how a group stays connected when the next town is a weather window away.

04 · Why the beam exists
493 GT inside a 39.2-metre rule.
The official charter copy puts guest living space at more than 4,000 square feet. Combined with the 12-metre beam, that is why a 39.2-metre catamaran can sleep 12 without feeling like a converted commercial boat.
Cruising speed on the 37South page is 11 knots. The stored Blue Ocean Club snapshot still shows 13 knots and a 3.1-metre draft; those older figures are not repeated here. Range is published as 5,000 nautical miles — enough to treat the Pacific as a route, not a day-hop.
Interiors by Oceania Interiors
2B interiors: a residence that does not pretend to be a warship
The camouflage chevron hull is the photograph everyone remembers. Inside, Oceania Interiors specified a quieter residential language: pale timber, dark joinery, generous glass and rooms that face the water rather than a corridor of gold fittings.
BOAT's 2020 judges noted deck spaces tailored for outdoor living concealing a fully featured interior. That contrast still holds. The helm is a working expedition bridge; the guest saloons and cabins are for people who intend to stay weeks, not pose for an hour.

Five cabins · 12 guests
Three king VIP suites on the main deck.
37South publishes the sleep plan in two complementary ways: five cabins configured as three doubles, one twin and one bunk cabin; and a bed count of three kings, two singles that can convert to a king, and four single bunks. Overnight capacity is 12 guests.
Three king VIP suites sit on the main deck — a rare arrangement at this length, and the reason a multi-generational charter does not have to send half the party below. Crew is listed as nine on the current 37South page.
- 12 overnight guests
- Five guest cabins
- Three king VIP suites on the main deck
- Twin cabin plus bunk cabin
- Convertible king option in the twin arrangement
- Nine crew on the current charter listing
Recovery in the landscape
Wellness aboard 2B is the Pacific, then a quiet cabin
There is no published spa deck or hammam in the 37South specification, and this profile does not invent one. Recovery is written into the boat another way: stable catamaran motion, sun decks, a swim platform, and cabins designed for sleep after long days in the tender. Air-conditioning, Wi-Fi via Starlink, and the flybridge dining spaces are the comfort systems that are actually stated.

- Air-conditioning throughout guest areas
- Starlink satellite internet
- Multiple outdoor dining decks
- Sun pads and swim platform
- Stabilised catamaran platform
One mothership · three boats
2B's water programme: mothership, sport fisher, amphibious tender
The expedition kit is the yacht. 2B carries a 13-metre sport fisher, the amphibious tender and a Zodiac, then supports diving and fishing with crew who are hired for that work. Auckland and the wider South Pacific are the published theatre; Mediterranean weeks are not claimed here.

- Blue Ocean Club Best Charter Yacht 30–39.9m 2026
- World Superyacht Awards 2020 — Displacement Motor Yachts Below 499GT, 30–39.9m
Under her award-year name THE BEAST, 2B won Blue Ocean Club's Best Charter Yacht 30–39.9m in 2026. The decision rested on expedition volume, the carried sport fisher and a charter identity no other finalist in the class replicated.
The same platform already held a Neptune. At the World Superyacht Awards 2020 she won Displacement Motor Yachts Below 499 GT, 30 m to 39.9 m. BOAT recorded the judges' focus on the camouflage explorer brief and the two-crane launch of the 13-metre, 19-tonne fishing boat.

Crew is published as nine per 37South; an older stored Blue Ocean Club record listed ten. Particulars prefer the 37South charter page for 2B (14 September 2026) over older stored snapshots where they disagree. Builder, design credits and the 2020 award follow BOAT International's published winners list. Rate, crew travel and toy packages are confirmed before contract.
