Expedition catamaran · Built 2019 · New Zealand

Expedition volume. Shallow-draft freedom.

2B is the same 39.2-metre aluminium catamaran the world first knew as THE BEAST. She now charters as 2B, with THE BEAST retained as the launch identity so readers can still find the award-year record.

Measuring 39 metres with a gross tonnage of 493, she offers the volume of a 50-metre-plus yacht while keeping excellent fuel efficiency and a shallow 2.5-metre draft, ideal for remote South Pacific anchorages. Built for adventure, she is available for private charter in Auckland and beyond.

01 · The sport fisher

A 13-metre sport fisher that travels with her.

2B's custom-built 13-metre luxury sport fisher tender takes on-the-water adventure further. She has twin beds, a full ensuite bathroom, a galley, a bar and sheltered seating, and suits day excursions, sport fishing, diving, surfing or simply exploring further afield.

The sport fisher is carried on deck and launched by 10-tonne cranes, so wherever 2B goes, her guests can carry on the adventure in comfort, whether that is a day of watersports or a sunset cruise.

02 · Ashore

An amphibious tender for beach landings.

A 9.3-metre custom amphibious tender makes beach drop-offs easy, and a 4.5-metre Zodiac completes the tender fleet.

2B comes with all the gear and crew support needed for diving, fishing and custom itineraries.

03 · On deck

Teppanyaki on the flybridge.

Extensive deck space gives three options for outdoor dining, and the flybridge has a teppanyaki restaurant-style barbecue.

Starlink satellite internet coverage is on board, and her 5,000-nautical-mile range allows extensive cruising of the Pacific.

04 · Fishing and diving

Built for serious exploration.

The yacht's charter team describes 2B as an expedition yacht like no other: bold, purposeful and equipped for serious exploration. Her intelligent hull design gives remarkable stability, making her comfortable even in more demanding cruising conditions.

On board are extensive fishing equipment and a full dive shop with a compressor and twelve sets of scuba equipment, for private fishing charters, dive excursions and luxury day trips.

05 · Who she suits

For charters that begin where the usual circuit ends.

2B suits families, groups of friends and longer charters in remote regions: guests who want serious fishing, diving and beach landings from one stable, high-volume platform rather than a marina-to-marina programme.

With 12 guests in five cabins and nine crew, she works for a multi-generation family or two or three couples travelling together, and her range and dive shop make a longer South Pacific itinerary realistic.

The yacht's charter team confirmed 2B's weekly charter rate as USD 215,000 for up to 12 guests on 2 November 2026. The rate is quoted in US dollars.
