Who MOKA suits

MOKA is a 42.2 m motor yacht that accommodates 10 guests across 5 cabins, supported by a crew of 9. She is well-suited for groups looking to enjoy an active time on the water, featuring a beach club, a swim platform, a water slide, and paddleboards. The inclusion of stabilizers at anchor and air conditioning ensures comfort during social gatherings on deck or while relaxing on the sun pads.

When positioned in the West Mediterranean, she sits close to the typical length for comparable yachts in the area. Her capacity for 10 guests matches the guest count of similar vessels, while her 2015 build year remains consistent with the age profile of boats often found cruising the Balearic Islands, Corsica & Sardinia, the French Riviera, and the Amalfi Coast. Prospective guests will find that her weekly rate is similar to other yachts of this size and specification.

The cruising season for MOKA spans from May to October. June and September provide steady breezes and quieter anchorages across her cruising grounds, making these months ideal for those who prefer calmer conditions. While July and August bring warm temperatures and increased activity, they remain popular for visiting the Amalfi Coast and the French Riviera. October brings cooler evenings, though she remains in the region throughout these months.

Cruising Corsica & Sardinia: when to go and where to anchor

Best time

The cruising season runs from May to October. July and August bring warm temperatures, low rainfall, and peak marina occupancy, particularly around the Costa Smeralda. May, June, and September offer quieter anchorages and steady sailing breezes. October sees cooler evenings and increasing frontal activity. The prevailing westerly and north-westerly winds, notably the Mistral, can accelerate significantly through the Strait of Bonifacio.

Practical tips

  • Porto Cervo is about 30–40 minutes from Olbia airport (OLB), whilst Bonifacio is about 25 minutes from Figari (FSC). Ajaccio (AJA) and Bastia (BIA) serve Corsica.
  • Cruising the Maddalena Archipelago requires a paid permit purchased in advance, whereas the neighbouring Lavezzi Islands require strict compliance with designated nature reserve zoning rules.
  • The Strait of Bonifacio funnels wind and sea; monitor Mistral forecasts closely and maintain alternative anchorages on eastern coastlines during strong westerly conditions.

Anchorages to know

  • Bonifacio
This deep limestone fjord in southern Corsica provides secure shelter from prevailing winds, with berths situated beneath the medieval citadel.
  • Cala di Volpe
A wide, sheltered bay on Sardinia's Costa Smeralda offering good holding on sand and protection from westerly breezes.
  • Lavezzi Islands
A granite archipelago south of Corsica offering anchorages in designated zones, subject to Bouches de Bonifacio Nature Reserve environmental restrictions.
  • Cala Coticcio, Caprera
Located in the Maddalena Archipelago, this narrow cove features granite surrounds and clear water, with access regulated by park authority mooring buoys.
