William Hunter
Captain
English
Will was born in Tampa FL and grew up in Naples FL. He always had a passion for the water being a native Floridian so it’s no surprise his career has taken him to the marine industry. After high school he started working at a marina doing boat/jet ski rentals, eco tours, running the fuel docks and doing charter fishing with the many charter captains that moored at his marina. After a few years of working the docks he was approached by the Naples Princess to be a mate on board. Eventually he went full time and was on the water everyday. He decided he wanted to see more and wanted to pursue the yachting industry. He soon found a yacht looking for a mate and quickly made the transition to a private yacht. Once he submerged himself in the yachting industry he knew he would be a Captain one day and planned to do so. After years of hard work and a lot of Maritime Education he became a captain. He is now approaching 10 years in the yachting industry and will continue to grow his career.

Cruising Florida - East Coast: when to go and where to anchor
Best time
The main charter season runs from November to April, characterised by prevailing easterly breezes, lower humidity, and temperatures averaging 22°C to 27°C. December through February represents the busiest period. May brings lighter winds and reduced crowds. The summer months from June to October bring warmer waters, high humidity, frequent afternoon rain showers, and the Atlantic hurricane season, resulting in quieter charter conditions.
Practical tips
- Fly into Miami (MIA), Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Palm Beach (PBI). Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale marinas are typically 15–30 minutes from Miami or Fort Lauderdale airport.
- Navigation along the Intracoastal Waterway requires close monitoring of bridge clearance heights, with many fixed spans restricted to a standard 65-foot vertical limit.
- Manatee protection zones impose strict slow-speed and no-wake regulations throughout inland creeks, channels, and bays, which are actively monitored by maritime law enforcement.
Anchorages to know
- Nixon BeachLocated on the west side of Key Biscayne in Biscayne Bay, this sheltered anchorage offers shallow sandy waters suitable for anchoring in calm conditions.
- Peanut IslandSituated inside Lake Worth Inlet near Palm Beach, this anchorage provides reliable holding, clear tidal waters, and direct access to the ocean.
- Lake SylviaA sheltered, landlocked deep-water basin located off the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale, offering calm holding in soft mud.
- No Name HarborA protected natural pocket bay at the southern end of Key Biscayne, providing calm water and mud holding near Cape Florida.
