# Maldives Yacht Itinerary — A Real 7-Day Route from North to Ari Atoll

A private yacht charter Maldives is the only way to see more than one resort's house reef. This 7-day Maldives yacht itinerary is built from how our captains actually run a high-season week — not the marketing version. It assumes a luxury yacht charter Maldives base out of Malé and a fast motor yacht or Maldives catamaran charter.

Day 1 — Malé to North Malé Atoll

Guest pickup at Velana International Airport (MLE), tender to the yacht in Malé harbour, lunch underway. Afternoon snorkel at Banana Reef — the original Maldives dive site. Overnight at anchor in the lee of a sandbank off Helengeli.

Day 2 — Manta and meal at Coco Bodu Hithi

Dawn snorkel at Manta Point off Lankan Reef. Cruise south-west across the channel, lunch at anchor off Coco Bodu Hithi. Sunset cocktails on the foredeck; chef serves yellowfin tuna sashimi caught underway.

Day 3 — South Malé and Vaadhoo bioluminescence

Morning crossing south to South Malé Atoll. Lunch anchor at Anantara Veli. Late-afternoon transit to Vaadhoo Island for the bioluminescent plankton after dark — the famous "sea of stars". Best time to charter a yacht in the Maldives if you want this is March–April when plankton blooms are most predictable.

Day 4 — Crossing to Ari Atoll

Long morning crossing west to Ari Atoll. Anchor at Dhigurah, snorkel with whale sharks (year-round, but peak August–November). Sunset at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island — book Ithaa Undersea Restaurant in advance via your charter broker.

Day 5 — Hammerhead dive and beach picnic

Dawn dive at Hammerhead Point. Late breakfast, then chef serves a beach picnic on an uninhabited sandbank in the central Ari Atoll. Afternoon paddleboard, sunset cocktails on the beach.

Day 6 — Manta cleaning station and overnight at sea

Morning at Maaya Thila manta cleaning station. Slow cruise north-east back toward Malé, overnight at anchor between atolls. This is the calmest sleep of the week.

Day 7 — Return to Malé

Final breakfast underway, transit back to Malé harbour. Tender drop to seaplane terminal or back to MLE.

Where this itinerary flexes

  • Families with younger kids: skip the long Day 4 crossing — substitute South Malé and Felidhoo Atoll instead.
  • Divers: stretch to 10 days and add Baa Atoll's Hanifaru Bay for the manta-ray feeding frenzy (June–November).
  • Honeymooners: add a private dinner ashore at One&Only Reethi Rah or Soneva Jani.
