  • Land traffic in July and August is notoriously bad. Embrace 'yacht-life': use the vessel for all travel between coastal towns. It's faster, more comfortable, and infinitely more stylish.
  • Visit the local morning markets (Marché Forville in Cannes, Place des Lices in St-Tropez, Cours Saleya in Nice) before 10 am. It's a true sensory experience and where your chef sources the best ingredients.
  • The Mistral wind can appear with little warning, primarily affecting the area west of the Estérel. Trust your captain implicitly if they advise a change of itinerary for safety and comfort.
  • French VAT on charters is a complex topic. Ensure your charter agreement is clear on the rate, which can vary based on the itinerary (e.g., if you enter Italian waters). There is no 'one size fits all' rate.
  • While credit cards are widely accepted, it's wise to have some Euros for small purchases in markets, for taxis, and as an extra tip for exceptional service in restaurants.
