Gulf of Poets & Cinque Terre
The Ligurian breeze carries the scent of salt, basil, and wild herbs as your yacht glides into the Gulf of Poets. This is a coastline of profound beauty, where colourful villages cling to sheer cliffs and the sea's rhythm has inspired writers for centuries. From the storied harbour of Portovenere, where Byron once swam, to the terraced vineyards of the Cinque Terre, you follow a literary and sensory trail. Each day reveals a new facet of this dramatic landscape, best appreciated from the unique perspective of the water.

- DAY 01
Portovenere & Palmaria Island
You embark in the storied harbour of Portovenere, its tall, slender houses forming a defensive wall along the Calata Doria. High above, the formidable Doria Castle stands guard, while at the peninsula's tip, the striped Church of St. Peter presides over the waves. The air is alive with the chatter from waterfront cafes and the promise of the islands just across the strait.
- Explore the Gothic Church of St. Peter and the adjacent Byron's Grotto.
- Climb to the 12th-century Doria Castle for commanding views of the Gulf.
- Take the tender to Palmaria island for a swim at the pebble beach of Spiaggia del Pozzale.
- Enjoy a sunset aperitivo at the terrace of the Grand Hotel Portovenere.
- Anchorage
- Anchorage in the channel between Portovenere and Isola Palmaria.
- Dining
- Ristorante Le Bocche, for exquisite seafood with views to match.
- DAY 02
Lerici & Tellaro
A morning cruise across the Gulf reveals Lerici, a town beloved by the Shelleys, nestled around a wide bay and watched over by its imposing castle. The vibrant Piazza Garibaldi is the town's heart, a perfect spot to absorb the local life. A short hop south by tender brings you to Tellaro, a quieter, impossibly charming fishing hamlet clinging to the cliffs, its narrow lanes leading to a tiny, protected harbour.
- Visit the Castello di Lerici, now a palaeontology museum.
- Stroll through the maze-like 'caruggi' alleyways of Tellaro.
- Anchor in the bay of Fiascherino, where D.H. Lawrence once lived, for a swim.
- Launch the water toys for an afternoon of activity in the protected Baia di Lerici.
- Anchorage
- Anchorage in the bay of Lerici.
- Dining
- Osteria del Borgo in Tellaro for authentic Ligurian dishes in a rustic setting.
- DAY 03
Riomaggiore & Manarola
Your first sight of the Cinque Terre is Riomaggiore, where houses cascade down a steep ravine to a miniature harbour filled with fishing boats. From the sea, the scale of human endeavour here is striking. Nearby Manarola presents an equally iconic view, its buildings seemingly fused to the rock, surrounded by terraced vineyards that produce the famed Sciacchetrà wine.
- Tender ashore to explore Riomaggiore’s steep main street and fishing harbour.
- Walk part of the cliffside path towards Manarola for classic views.
- Swim from the rocks at the Manarola waterfront.
- Indulge in a tasting of local wines, including the sweet Sciacchetrà.
- Anchorage
- Day anchorage off the coast of Manarola.
- Dining
- Nessun Dorma in Manarola for an aperitivo of local meats and cheeses with an unparalleled view.
- DAY 04
Vernazza & Monterosso al Mare
Arrive at Vernazza, often considered the most beautiful of the five villages, with its natural harbour, bustling piazza, and the medieval Belforte Tower. Further up the coast lies Monterosso, the largest village, offering a different character with its long, sandy beach and lemon groves. The water here is a deep blue, inviting a refreshing swim after exploring ashore.
- Climb the Belforte Tower in Vernazza for a panoramic perspective of the village and coastline.
- Relax on the sand at Spiaggia di Fegina in Monterosso.
- Explore the historic old town of Monterosso and the Convent of the Capuchin Friars.
- Enjoy a pesto tasting – you are in the birthplace of the famous sauce.

- DAY 05
The Three Islands & Return to Portovenere
A final, tranquil morning is spent cruising the small archipelago of Palmaria, Tino, and Tinetto. From the yacht, you have the perfect vantage point to appreciate the wildness of Palmaria, the military lighthouse on Tino, and the ancient monastic ruins on tiny Tinetto. It is a slow, scenic passage back across the Gulf, culminating in your arrival back in Portovenere for disembarkation.
- A final morning swim and paddleboard in a quiet cove off Palmaria.
- Circumnavigate Tino island, a military zone best viewed from the water.
- Spot the 6th-century monastic ruins on Tinetto islet from the tender.
- Enjoy a farewell breakfast on the aft deck, watching the Gulf of Poets glide by.
