Mallorca Yacht Charter — Season & Events Guide

Mallorca's charter season runs May through October, peaking late July to late August. The island's geography — Tramuntana mountains in the north-west, sheltered coves on the south coast, and the protected Cabrera archipelago to the south — gives flexible cruising in nearly any wind. Palma is the operational hub: jet-capable airport 8 km from the marinas, Lürssen and Astilleros service yards, and the best concentration of provisioning, crew, and brokerage in the Western Mediterranean.

Charter recommendations

Best base marinas

Palma (STP, Club de Mar) for 40m+; Port Adriano for design-led 30–60m; Puerto Portals for 25–45m with the best on-foot lifestyle; Port de Sóller and Cala Ratjada as overnight stops on a circumnavigation.

Recommended yacht size

30–40m motor yacht is the sweet spot for the south-coast anchorages (Es Trenc, Cala Llombards). 50m+ requires careful itinerary planning around Cabrera permits and Tramuntana berthing.

Itinerary template (7 nights)

Palma → Port d'Andratx → Sa Dragonera → Port de Sóller (overnight) → Formentor → Cala Mondragó → Cabrera (permit-only, 1 night) → Es Trenc → Palma.

Avoid

Last week of July and first week of August if you have flexibility — Copa del Rey overlaps with peak tourism, berths in Palma are scarce and ground transport difficult.

Pair with

Ibiza and Formentera (overnight crossing south-west) or Menorca (3-hour hop east) extend a Mallorca charter into a full Balearic week.
